Tim Farrar
Tim Farrar has worked as a technology consultant for
over 19 years, specializing in providing strategic
advice to satellite operators, equipment manufacturers
and financial institutions.

In 2002, Tim set up his own consulting firm, Telecom,
Media and Finance Associates, Inc.

From 1995 to 2002, Tim was a principal at Analysys
Consulting, a specialist telecom consultancy based in the UK. He led the
expansion of Analysys into the US, setting up their first US office in the
San Francisco Bay Area in 1999, and developing a multi-million dollar
stream of new business in the US between 1997 and 2002. Most notably
during this period, he acted as lead strategy consultant for Teledesic
Corporation, an innovative broadband satellite venture backed by Craig
McCaw and Bill Gates.

Prior to joining Analysys, he worked as a systems engineer for Smith
Systems Engineering in the UK, specifying and developing a range of
simulations, databases and data communications software for various
government agencies.

Tim has a first class MA in Math and a PhD in Operations Research from
the University of Cambridge (UK).

broadband access provider as part of a sale-leaseback agreement
with a major telecom network operator
Technical and market advisor to several banking consortia in high
yield debt offerings for a number of new telecom network providers

assessments to numerous satellite operators, equipment vendors and
service providers, including Inmarsat, Intelsat, SkyTerra, Iridium,
Hughes Network Systems, Globalstar and Vizada
Technical and market advisor to private equity groups during due
diligence on potential telecom and satellite investments in the US,
Europe, Latin America and Asia
Strategy advisor to start-ups and new entrants in the US, Latin
America and Europe on the market opportunities in a wide range of
new telecom services, including fixed wireless access, WLAN, cable
modems, DSL, data centers and 2.5G/3G wireless
