Farrar to Head Mobile Satellite Users Association
McLean, Virginia, Nov. 16 -- George Zachmann, chairman of the Mobile
Satellite Users Association, announced that Tim Farrar, mobile satellite
expert and president of Telecom, Media and Finance Associates, Inc.
(TMF Associates), has assumed the presidency of MSUA effective
November 15, 2006. He succeeds Scott Chase, who will continue
consulting for information services providers and trade publishers across a
number of markets, including mobile satellite communications, as a partner
in GRID Media LLC.
In making the announcement, Zachmann stated “Tim is well known within
both the fixed and mobile satellite industries with more than 13 years
business and technical consulting experience across the satellite sector.
Tim has particular expertise in interpreting the impact of market
developments upon technical requirements for satellite design, and has
recently released several widely read research reports on new
developments in the mobile satellite industry. His firm has worked with
many of the major mobile satellite companies over the last few years, and
his leadership will enable MSUA to sponsor the next of MSUA’s mobile
satellite conferences. In addition, MSUA will continue to maintain the
web’s only mobile satellite portal, publish weekly headlines on mobile
satellite issues and periodic newsletters that are highly regarded.”
Farrar has headed his own consulting company, specializing in technical
and financial analysis of satellite ventures since September 2002, and will
continue to manage TMF Associates while serving as MSUA president.
Prior to starting TMF Associates, Farrar was a principal consultant at
Analysys Consulting, leading the satellite consulting group for this major
European telecom consultancy, and creating a multi-million dollar business
with a global reputation for excellence within the satellite sector. He
conceived, founded and led Analysys’s operations in the U.S. from 1999
to 2002, building up a team of eight consultants.
Farrar has both undergraduate and Ph.D degrees from the University of
Cambridge, United Kingdom.
